Post Acute Medical recognizes March as National Brain Injury Awareness Month – a time to observe the growing prevalence of traumatic brain injuries and to help make lives better for individuals who have sustained this kind of trauma. Traumatic brain injury is a serious condition, and many are not aware of the full scope of its effects.
Many times, people can be unsure about what to do during an “awareness month.” Here are a few ways to get involved during Brain Injury Awareness Month:
Some Brain Injury statistics* to note:
• At least 2.5 million people sustain brain injuries in the U.S. each year
• 50,000 die as a result of sustaining a brain injury
• Every 13 seconds, someone in the U.S. suffers a brain injury
• At least 5.3 million people in the U.S. live with brain injury-related disabilities

At Post Acute Medical (PAM), our goal is to offer a comprehensive and trans-disciplinary approach to brain injury rehabilitation. We combine evidence-based practice, comprehensive medical care, and brain injury education with innovative treatment techniques to maximize patient outcomes. We utilize multisensory modalities based on patient rehab potentials and individual strengths, to prepare patients for a focused in-patient acute rehabilitation setting.
The key to a successful recovery is early and aggressive treatment involving the patient and their families. We have developed a three-tiered program to help ensure a smooth transition from our hospital to the “next step” of the patient’s recovery process.
At PAM, Clinical Liaisons will review and assess the patient’s current medical needs and potential needs for admission into our program. Our core team will assimilate the information in preparation for a smooth transition of care from a referring hospital to our facility.
Our goal is to care for the patient’s entire medical and rehabilitation needs using a number of advanced tools and techniques to offer the best opportunity for recovery and rehabilitation. Through consistent and objective measurement of the neurological status, we strive to maximize the recovery of neurological function.
