Mrs. Janie Cardenas

CardenasPhoto.pngMrs. Janie Cardenas came to PAM/WS Rehabilitation Hospital of Kyle following a stroke in June of 2018. She was initially brought to Seton Medical Center Hays and ultimately transferred to Seton Medical Center Austin for further treatment. Prior to Janie’s stroke she was completely independent, living at home with her spouse and working full time. When Janie arrived at PAM/WS Rehabilitation of Kyle she had tremendous difficulty performing the basic activities of daily living due to the right sided hemiparesis, slurred speech and facial droop that she suffered as a result of the stroke. She required assistance from the nursing and therapy teams to get out of bed and walk.

After two weeks of intensive therapy she began feeling more confident in her abilities to take care of herself. Janie had a strong will to recover and “get back to work!” She continued to be focused on her recovery and completed her therapy stay after 23 days. “I could not have it without the wonderful staff at Kyle!” Janie transitioned to the outpatient clinic for further therapy services and eventually was able to return to work.

“When I first had my stroke I couldn’t do anything but lay in bed. The therapists at PAM/WS Rehab of Kyle helped me live again and get back to things I enjoy!”
